I showed her how to do it manually (using the "decrease indent" button and also by clicking on the bullet dropdown and choosing "define new bullet" before you start your list.) After even more experimentation, I've discovered that by inserting a blank line at the end of the document, I can solve the problem for the most part. I know you're probably heard it a quadrillion times, but your site is the only one to give me the straight answer without sending me off somewhere only to get lost. Now type (tab).

Another way I found it on 2007 is to misspell a word and right click it and you will get the dialog box. this has been an issue for me for WEEKS! Tab Doesn't Indent Bullets Word 2013 What I suspect is happening is that the final paragraph of the document is set to some style with unexpected tab stops.
